MCS(Material Control System) has a decisive influence on smart manufacturing. Only if the transportation of material is automated will the transit time and shortest path be calculated accurately. Thus, the delay time caused by logistics will be minimized, and human error can be avoided.

The Core of Intelligent Logistics

When the subsystem of MES(Manufacturing Execution System), which is DCS/RTD, assigns transit command, such as selected material, carrier and destination, to MCS, MCS will trace and control RGV(Rail Guided Vehicles), AGV(Automated Guided Vehicles), OHT(Overhead Hoist Transports) and Stockers. MCS will calculate the shortest transit path, and all the logistics information will be produced by MCS for engineers to monitor the system.

Key Capabilities

Apart from automation mechanism of logistics, MCS also provides numerous management tools to let engineers monitor the logistics in the factory.

Transit Resource Management

MCS provides transit resource management tool in order to let engineers monitor the usage of carrier, warehouse, crane and lifter. Thus they can recognize whether the transit resource is sufficient or not.

Logistics History Tool

It’s essential to record and understand the logistics, so MCS provides logistics history tool so that all transit data and state of equipment will be uploaded immediately. The engineer can improve the execution of logistics by the historical record.

Stocker Management

MCS also provides stocker management tool so that engineers can monitor and control the usage of stocker. Engineers can manage the stocker simply by control the stock on MCS.

Exception Management

When the transit process exception happens, such as no material to transit or the warehouse is full, MCS will notify the engineer who will control the carrier remotely. As a result, the exception event can be handled immediately.
